Announcements first:
- All students who have completed their basic Adavus and/or about to finish two years of training, are being batched together on the Fridays & Saturdays. This batch is henceforth be called Batch 2.
- Its is understandable if some of you cannot change your current timings, in which case, please do meet me and let me know (if you have not done so). It is highly recommended to be a part of the appropriate batch.
- Also there are students who are in the Saturday timing, even though they do not meet the above requirements. Kindly try to reschedule to Sunday.
- It is understandable that students may have activities that have started earlier. But with summer holidays approaching, it is a great way to reschedule so that the student gets maximum learning from all activities involved.
- This Saturday Batch-2, is going to be a one and half hour session, going forward, hence, please keep that in mind before you sign up for other activities for your child. When the class time is extended, it will be half hour before (from 10:30am to 12pm, and not after).
- There is a break coming up from May 22nd to June 20th. Classes will resume normally from June 26th. All students are expected to practice and remember their lessons.
- Fees will be charged @ one month for May and June. You may pay one month fee in May that would also cover June classes.
- I cannot reiterate the importance of having regular practice at home, even if its for 10 minutes a day. Kindly make sure that regular practice is being done. Please. I am so eager to teach new stuff. Hence it is extremely important that they remember and execute their previous lessons properly. Also please be back to classes on June 26th. Please.
- Batch 1 students are required to remember and perform all the songs that have been taught to them thus far. This is their summer homework that is expected to be done with utmost sincerity and honesty.
- All students, especially Batch 1 & 2 MUST know what they have learnt. For eg, Adavus, names of adavus, hastas, names of hastas, bhedas, categories of bhedas etc.
Most of the above is a constant and continuous process. The beauty and challenge of Indian classical dances is that all senses, limbs, soul, the very being, everything is employed for every single step, for every single song, every bit of music. Very simply put, hundred different things are happening simultaneously, feet are moving to the rhythm, ears are listening to the music, eyes are looking at hands, and hands are moving to the lyrics. The perfect co-ordination comes from sincere and regular practice. Like academics, arts too need attention on a daily basis.
My sincere and heartfelt thanks to all the understanding and support. This dance year, you will see your kids performing at an entirely different level.
